Are monkeys apes?

Are monkeys dangerous?
Adults are strong, fast and heavily armed with canines. Bites are common where troops are fed by tourists. Never feed or corner one, and never stand between a mother and infant.
Do monkeys carry diseases?
Yes, in both directions. Macaques can carry herpes B, which is dangerous to humans, and primates are vulnerable to human respiratory viruses. This is a core reason to keep distance.
Do monkeys make good pets?
No. They live for decades, need species-specific diets, cannot be house-trained reliably, become dangerous at maturity and suffer badly without primate company.
